Best Case bankruptcy software costs 99 dollars per user a month for Best Case Cloud, with unlimited cases, 10GB of storage and a 30 day free trial. Best Case Desktop is an annual license: 1,750 dollars for Chapter 7, 2,250 for Chapter 7 and 13 and 2,500 for all chapters for one user on the main price grid, then a yearly maintenance fee from 800 dollars to keep updates and support. Custom Chapter 13 plans add 170 to 370 dollars, and credit reports, counseling and noticing are extra on both versions.

Stretto, which sells Best Case, publishes its prices, which is more than most legal software vendors do. The catch is that its own pricing page shows two different sets of desktop figures, and the cloud and desktop products are priced on completely different models. If you are a bankruptcy attorney deciding whether to renew a desktop license, move to the cloud or switch vendors, this page lays out every published number, read from bestcase.com on October 13, 2026, and what the first two years actually cost.

Best Case bankruptcy software cost by version

VersionSingle user3 simultaneous usersEach extra userAfter year one
Best Case Cloud$99 a month$99 per user a month$99 a monthSame subscription
Desktop, Chapter 7$1,750 a year$3,500 a year+$600Maintenance $800 single, $1,750 multi
Desktop, Chapter 7 and 13$2,250 a year$3,750 a year+$600Maintenance $1,150 single, $2,050 multi
Desktop, All Chapters$2,500 a year$4,500 a year+$600Maintenance $1,650 single, $2,700 multi

Every version includes unlimited cases. The cloud subscription includes 10GB of data and document storage, software updates and unlimited support, and is billed in monthly or annual installments. The desktop license includes one year of maintenance; after that, the page says you "may renew their annual maintenance plan to continue access to software". Firms with several offices or a wide area network are told to contact sales.

Why the Best Case pricing page shows two prices

The desktop figures above come from the main price grid at the top of the desktop tab. Lower on the same page, separate panels for each license repeat the offer with lower numbers: 1,500 dollars for Chapter 7, 2,000 for Chapter 7 and 13 and 2,250 for all chapters, with multi-user licenses at 3,000, 3,500 and 4,000, 500 dollars per extra user, and maintenance of 750, 1,000 and 1,450 for a single user. The gap is 250 dollars on every single-user license.

We cannot tell from the page which set is current, and you should not guess. Before you sign, send Stretto one line: "Your pricing page lists Chapter 7 and 13 desktop at both 2,250 and 2,000 dollars a year. Which applies to us, and is that the renewal price as well?" Get the answer in writing, because a 250 dollar gap repeated every year on maintenance is real money over a five year license.

How much does Best Case Cloud cost per year?

For one user, 1,188 dollars a year at 99 dollars a month. Three users cost 3,564 dollars a year, which is close to the 3,500 to 3,750 dollar desktop multi-user license in year one but well above desktop maintenance in year two. That is the core trade. Cloud costs the same every year and you never install anything. Desktop costs more in year one and less from year two, as long as you keep paying maintenance and your own hardware, backups and remote access hold up.

Run the two year math for a single attorney filing Chapter 7 and 13 cases:

  • Best Case Cloud: 1,188 dollars in year one plus 1,188 in year two, 2,376 dollars in total.
  • Best Case Desktop, main grid: 2,250 dollars in year one plus 1,150 maintenance in year two, 3,400 dollars in total.
  • Best Case Desktop, lower panels: 2,000 plus 1,000, 3,000 dollars in total.

On published prices, cloud is cheaper for a solo over two years by 624 to 1,024 dollars, before you count the cost of running the desktop machine. Desktop only wins for a single user on a longer horizon where maintenance stays flat, or for a firm that wants its data on its own server.

What Best Case charges extra for

The license or subscription is only part of the bill. The pricing page lists these as separate costs:

  • Custom Chapter 13 plans, plus 170 to 370 dollars, for the Chapter 7 and 13 or All Chapters desktop license where your district's plan is available. Cloud lists custom Chapter 13 plans among its court forms.
  • Advanced integrations at an additional cost: due diligence access and data import, credit and financial reports, credit counseling and debtor education courses, legal noticing, and student loan and mortgage modification tools through the Stretto DMM Portal.

Those integrations are where per-case costs live. A tri-merge credit report, the counseling certificate and creditor noticing are charged per case on every platform, so ask for the per-case price of each before you compare Best Case with anything else. A cheaper annual license can easily lose to a dearer one if its credit reports cost more and you file two hundred cases a year.

Is Best Case cheaper than NextChapter?

At one user, it is close. NextChapter Pro Basic costs 89 dollars per user a month, or 979 a year paid upfront, against 1,188 for Best Case Cloud. But Pro Basic charges 250 dollars a year for the Chapter 13 Package, which takes it to 1,229. NextChapter Pro Plus, at 129 a month or 1,399 a year, includes the Chapter 13 Package, notices, a quick means test tool and calendar integration. The Whoa Plan, at 179 a month or 1,949 a year, adds Chapter 11 and Subchapter V filings.

Two terms matter more than the sticker price. Every NextChapter plan requires a 12 month contract, even when billed monthly. Best Case gives a 30 day cloud trial against NextChapter's 7 days. Our full bankruptcy software for attorneys comparison puts both vendors, Glade and the research tools side by side with every published price.

Is there a free trial of Best Case?

Yes, for the cloud version only. The pricing page offers "a free 30-day trial of the cloud platform when you sign up today". The desktop license routes you to "Connect with expert" rather than a trial. Use the 30 days on a real case: build a full Chapter 7 petition from a real intake, run the means test, generate the creditor matrix and time it against what you do today. If you are moving from desktop, ask support to import a closed case so you can check that your data comes across intact.

What Best Case does not do

Best Case prepares and files bankruptcy cases. It does not search case law. When a trustee objects to confirmation, a creditor files a dischargeability complaint or you need to know how your circuit treats a disputed means test expense, the forms engine has nothing to say. That research usually runs through Westlaw or Lexis+ on a multi-year term, or a bar association benefit if your state has one.

CaseSearch covers that one job. Ask a plain-English question, such as whether a Chapter 13 debtor who owns a car outright can claim the vehicle ownership expense after Ransom v. FIA Card Services, and you get the controlling decisions with citations, the holding in plain language and a signal showing whether each is still good law. It costs 49 dollars a month or 24 billed yearly with no term, so a bankruptcy practice can price it next to its Best Case renewal, and you can run one question with no account using the search box at the top of this page. Before any of those cases go into a brief, run them through a legal citation checker as well.

One more practical note. After discharge, the question clients ask most is how long the filing will weigh on their score and what to do first. Pointing them to an AI credit score helper that explains what is hurting their score handles that conversation without eating your billable time.

Questions to ask Stretto before you sign

  • Which desktop price applies to us, the main grid or the lower panels, and is the maintenance renewal fixed for future years?
  • Does the cloud subscription have a minimum term if billed monthly, and what is the annual installment price?
  • What does each advanced integration cost per case: credit reports, counseling and debtor education, and noticing?
  • Is our district's custom Chapter 13 plan available, and which end of the 170 to 370 dollar range is it?
  • If we move from desktop to cloud, is case data migrated, and is there a fee?

Ask those five, compare the totals with CaseSearch pricing for the research side, and you will know the real first-year cost of your bankruptcy stack before the renewal date arrives.
