Callidus AI is now called StrongSuit, and its Individual plan costs $249 per user per month, with a five day free trial. Firms that need several licenses get a custom quote on the Firm plan, which adds live onboarding with StrongSuit attorneys, a dedicated success manager, centralized billing and team collaboration. The old callidusai.com address now redirects to strongsuit.com, so any price you find under the Callidus name dates from before the rebrand. Figures were read from StrongSuit's own pricing page on September 29, 2026.
If you heard about Callidus from a colleague or a CLE and went looking for a price, the rename is the first thing that trips people up. Below is what the plans cost today, what the Individual plan actually includes, how that price sits against Midpage, Paxton, Westlaw and Lexis+, and what to test in the five days before the card is charged.
How much does Callidus AI cost now that it is StrongSuit?
StrongSuit publishes two plans, and only one of them has a number on it.
| Plan | Price | Who it is for | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual | $249 per month | One legal professional | The full platform, a 10M+ case database, Microsoft Word integration, support, SOC 2 Type II |
| Firm | Custom quote | Firms that need multiple licenses or extra features | Everything in Individual, plus custom onboarding with StrongSuit attorneys, a success manager, early access, centralized billing, user management and team collaboration |
Twelve months on the Individual plan comes to 2,988 dollars. StrongSuit's pricing page shows a monthly figure only; it does not publish an annual rate or an annual discount, and its homepage FAQ refers to "volume discounts and Enterprise features" for larger firms without giving numbers. Both plans sit under a Fair Usage Policy in StrongSuit's terms of service, and the page notes that not all features are available on all plans.
You will still find comparison pages quoting a lower Callidus-era starting price. Treat those as history. The number that applies to a new account is the one on strongsuit.com/pricing, and the safest move is to screenshot it on the day you sign up.
Is Callidus AI the same company as StrongSuit?
Yes. Callidus Legal AI announced its rebrand to StrongSuit in late 2025 and described itself as an end-to-end, AI-powered litigation platform. The same launch added automated case validation, the good-law check lawyers call shepardizing, along with a rebuilt research engine and an oral argument simulator. The callidusai.com domain now answers with a permanent redirect to strongsuit.com.
What do you get for $249 a month?
StrongSuit sells itself as a litigation workspace rather than a search box. The Individual plan lists access to the full platform, a case database of more than 10 million federal and state cases (StrongSuit's rebrand announcement puts it at 11 million), a Microsoft Word add-in, product updates, customer support, and a commitment that models are never trained on user data, backed by a SOC 2 Type II report.
In practice the platform covers four jobs. It researches a question and drafts a memo with citations, which StrongSuit says takes 10 to 15 minutes for a memo of up to about 30 pages. It drafts early briefs and memoranda of law from scratch or from your own templates. It redlines and drafts contracts inside Word. And it builds discovery timelines and statements of fact from files you upload. The case validation feature added at the rebrand checks whether the cases in a draft have been overturned or superseded.
That breadth is the reason for the price. A lawyer who drafts briefs weekly, reviews contracts and builds chronologies for litigation is paying for work they would otherwise do by hand. A lawyer who mainly needs to find the right cases is paying for a lot of software they will not open.
Does StrongSuit have a free trial?
Yes, five days. The pricing page has a Try It Free button on the Individual plan, and StrongSuit's own FAQ describes "a five-day free trial and $249/month individual pricing". The Firm plan goes through Book a Demo instead.
Five days is short, so plan the test before you sign up. Pick one matter you have already briefed and closed. Ask StrongSuit for a research memo on the central issue and compare its authorities against the ones you actually relied on. Then give it a draft brief that cites at least one case you know has been limited or reversed, and see whether the validation feature flags it. Finally, run one contract through the Word add-in if contract work is part of why you are looking. If the memo misses your controlling case, or the validator misses the bad one, you have your answer before the first charge.
Put the trial end date in your calendar the day you start. Five days passes quickly when a real deadline lands in the middle of it.
How does StrongSuit pricing compare with other legal AI tools?
StrongSuit sits in the middle of the self-serve legal AI market, above the research-first tools and well below the full drafting assistants.
| Tool | Published price | Trial |
|---|---|---|
| StrongSuit (formerly Callidus AI), Individual | $249 per month | 5 days |
| Midpage Professional | $100 per month, or $80 a month billed annually | 2 weeks |
| Paxton AI, Individual | $499 per month, or $2,999 per year | 7 days |
| Clio Work | Launched at $199 per user per month, now quote only | 14 days |
| Westlaw Edge, one state, no AI | $107.25 a month on 3 years, $132 on 1 year | 7 days |
| Lexis+ Essential, no AI assistant | $114 a month on 3 years, $152 on 1 year | Promotional |
| CaseSearch | $49 month to month, or $24 a month billed yearly | One demo run, no account |
The closest like-for-like comparison is Midpage, another AI-first research and drafting tool, which prints its price at 100 dollars a month and gives two weeks free. We break that plan down in our Midpage AI pricing guide. Paxton is the other self-serve option at the top of the range; what Paxton AI costs covers its 499 dollar monthly plan and why the annual rate is the real price.
Against the incumbents, StrongSuit costs roughly twice the cheapest Westlaw or Lexis+ plan but without a multi-year contract, and it includes drafting and contract tools those entry plans do not. What it does not claim is the depth of a Westlaw or Lexis library: secondary sources, practice guides, and a citator with decades of editorial history behind it. For the full picture of trial lengths across the market, see our legal AI free trial comparison.
Who should pay for StrongSuit?
StrongSuit makes the most sense for a litigator in a solo or small practice who drafts constantly. If your week includes a memo, a brief and a set of discovery documents to turn into a chronology, the 249 dollars is buying back hours of drafting time, and the Word add-in means the output lands where you already work. It also fits a small firm with a transactional side, because the contract redlining sits in the same subscription. When the redlined agreement is final, you still need a way to collect signatures, and a simple online document e-signing tool covers that step without another enterprise contract.
It makes less sense if your research need is narrow. Plenty of lawyers do not want a drafting assistant at all. They want to type a question, see the decisions that control it, and know those decisions have not been reversed. Paying 2,988 dollars a year for that is paying for features you will not use.
What is a cheaper option if you only need case law research?
CaseSearch does that one job. You ask a legal question in plain English and get the on-point federal and state decisions, each with its citation, the holding in plain language, and a good-law signal. It costs 49 dollars a month month to month, or 24 a month billed yearly, which is 288 dollars a year against 2,988 for StrongSuit Individual. You can run one real question through the tool at the top of this page without creating an account, and CaseSearch pricing is printed on the page with no sales call.
To be fair about the trade: CaseSearch does not draft memos or briefs, does not redline contracts, and does not build discovery timelines. If those are the reasons you were looking at Callidus, StrongSuit is built for them. If you were looking at it to find and check cases, the research half costs roughly a sixth as much here.
Questions buyers ask before choosing StrongSuit
How much is Callidus AI per month?
Callidus AI now operates as StrongSuit, and its Individual plan costs $249 per month. The Firm plan, for multiple licenses and team features, is sold on a custom quote. StrongSuit does not publish an annual price on its pricing page.
Does Callidus AI have a free trial?
Yes. StrongSuit, formerly Callidus AI, offers a five day free trial on the Individual plan through the Try It Free button on its pricing page. Firm plan prospects book a demo instead.
Is StrongSuit cheaper than Westlaw?
Not at the entry level. StrongSuit Individual is $249 a month, while Westlaw Edge for one state is $107.25 a month on a three year term or $132 on one year. StrongSuit has no term commitment and includes AI drafting that Westlaw Edge does not.
Can StrongSuit check whether a case is still good law?
Yes. StrongSuit added automated case validation when Callidus rebranded, and it checks whether cases cited in a brief or motion have been overturned, superseded or otherwise invalidated by later decisions. Verify its flags against the opinions themselves before you file, as you would with any citator.
