Westlaw Advantage Pricing for Deep Research, Plans and Cost by Term, Compared With Westlaw Edge
Westlaw Advantage is sold online to small firms at a price you can see before you talk to anyone. The catch is that the FAQ on the same page quotes a lower number than the configurator will sell you.

The short answer
Westlaw Advantage costs $288.60 a month for one attorney with single circuit coverage on a three year term, $310.80 on two years and $355.20 on one year. All states and federal coverage costs $447.85, $482.30 and $551.20. Deep Research and the Litigation Document Analyzer are only in Advantage. If you do not need them, Westlaw Edge with AI-Assisted Research starts at $170.95 a month and plain Westlaw Edge at $107.25.

How much does Westlaw Advantage cost?
For one attorney, Westlaw Advantage costs 288.60 dollars a month with single circuit coverage on a three year term, and 447.85 dollars a month with all states and federal coverage on the same term. On a one year term those rise to 355.20 and 551.20. The two year term sits between, at 310.80 and 482.30. Thomson Reuters labels the longer terms 12 percent off and 18 percent off.
Put in yearly terms, one attorney on single circuit pays 3,463.20 dollars a year on the three year plan and 4,262.40 on the one year plan. All states and federal is 5,374.20 or 6,614.40 a year. Across a full three year contract, the all states plan commits you to 16,122.60 dollars and the single circuit plan to 10,389.60, which is the number to hold in your head when you choose the term.
Every one of the 13 coverage options below all states, the First Circuit through the Eleventh plus the District of Columbia, priced the same. A Ninth Circuit firm covering nine states pays exactly what a Fifth Circuit firm covering three does, so if you practice across a large circuit, single circuit is the better value per state.
Single circuit
$355.20 on 1 year, $310.80 on 2 years, $288.60 on 3 years.
All states and federal
$551.20 on 1 year, $482.30 on 2 years, $447.85 on 3 years.

Why is Westlaw Advantage more expensive than the FAQ says?
Because Thomson Reuters raised the configured prices and left the FAQ alone. The FAQ on the Westlaw Advantage plans page reads that pricing starts at 256.75 dollars per month for single circuit coverage and 399.75 dollars per month for all states and federal coverage. When we read the configurator on September 6, 2026, those were exactly the three year prices it returned, against a one year list price of 492.00 dollars for all states.
On September 18 the same configurations returned 288.60, 447.85 and 551.20. That is an increase of 12.4 percent on single circuit and 12.0 percent on all states, applied to every term and every attorney count we tested. The FAQ was not updated, and nearly every article ranking for Westlaw Advantage pricing, along with the answers search engines summarize from them, still repeats 256.75 and 399.75.
The same thing happened one product down. The Westlaw Edge with AI-Assisted Research FAQ says pricing starts at 155.35 dollars for single circuit and 266.50 for all states and federal on a three year term, while its configurator returns 170.95 and 292.50. Plain Westlaw Edge, at 107.25 dollars for one state on three years, did not move. If a vendor quote or an internal budget uses the FAQ numbers, it is about 12 percent short for Advantage.

What does Westlaw Advantage include that Westlaw Edge does not?
Four tools the plans page lists as Westlaw Advantage exclusive features: Deep Research, the Litigation Document Analyzer, the Complaint Analyzer and Claims Explorer. The fifth item in that list, AI Jurisdictional Surveys, is also in the cheaper Westlaw Edge with AI-Assisted Research plan, so it is not a reason to pay for Advantage on its own.
Deep Research is the headline. Thomson Reuters describes it as agentic research: you give it a question, it builds a research plan and runs it across Westlaw rather than summarizing a single result list. The Litigation Document Analyzer, the successor to Quick Check, reads up to six uploaded documents from one matter, sorts the cited authority by the most negative KeyCite treatment, flags possible misstatements of law and quotations, and surfaces authority an opponent left out. The Complaint Analyzer and Claims Explorer apply the same idea to pleadings and causes of action.
Underneath, the library is the same Westlaw content with KeyCite, the West Key Number System and headnotes, which every Westlaw plan sold online includes. Advantage launched on August 13, 2025 as the successor to Westlaw Precision. Westlaw Edge, the 2018 platform, is still sold online beside it, which is why the cheaper Edge plans are the fair comparison.

How much does Westlaw Deep Research cost?
Deep Research has no price of its own. It is sold only inside Westlaw Advantage, so the real question is what Advantage costs over the next plan down, Westlaw Edge with AI-Assisted Research, which has the generative answers but not Deep Research or the document analyzers.
On a three year term for one attorney that premium is 117.65 dollars a month at single circuit (288.60 against 170.95) and 155.35 dollars a month at all states and federal (447.85 against 292.50). On a one year term it is 144.80 and 191.20. Over a year, then, Deep Research and the three analyzers cost a solo between 1,411.80 and 2,294.40 dollars depending on coverage and term.
Whether that is worth it depends on how often you would use the agentic tools. A litigator who runs multi-step research memos weekly and uploads opposing briefs will use them. A lawyer who mostly needs to find the controlling decision on a narrow question and confirm it is still good law is paying for capacity they will not touch.

All states and federal, 3 years

No. Deep Research comes only with Advantage.
How does Westlaw Advantage pricing work for more than one attorney?
The price is for the firm, and the per-lawyer cost falls fast as you add seats. On all states and federal with a three year term, one attorney pays 447.85 dollars a month. Two attorneys pay 668.85 in total, 334.43 each. Five pay 1,205.10, or 241.02 each. Ten pay 2,067.00, which is 206.70 each, less than half the solo rate.
Single circuit follows the same curve. Two attorneys pay 425.75 a month in total on three years and five pay 771.55, about 154.31 each. The one year term keeps the same shape at a higher level: ten attorneys on all states cost 2,544.00 a month.
Two practical consequences. A small firm should price its real headcount rather than multiply the one attorney figure, which overstates the cost badly. And the online path stops at ten attorneys; an eleventh lawyer moves you to a negotiated quote, where the published curve is your best benchmark.
1 attorney
$447.85 a month, all states and federal, 3 years.
2 attorneys
$668.85 a month in total, $334.43 each.
5 attorneys
$1,205.10 a month in total, $241.02 each.
10 attorneys

Is Westlaw Advantage cheaper than Lexis+ with Protege or CoCounsel Legal?
It is the only one of the three whose full price every visitor can see without filling in a form. Lexis+ with Protege shows 495 dollars per attorney per month on a three year term for firms of one to three attorneys on a LexisNexis store version in testing since October 2026, above Advantage all states and federal at 447.85, but other visitors still see "Pricing on request", and firms of four or more attorneys request pricing. CoCounsel Legal does publish a price for firms of 1 to 10 attorneys, but only after a configurator asks your sector, headcount, jurisdiction and term.
Against the LexisNexis tiers you can buy online, Westlaw Advantage is dearer. Lexis+ Enhanced, the cheapest Lexis tier with federal caselaw, is 257 dollars per attorney per month on a three year term, 31.60 dollars below Advantage single circuit. Lexis+ Professional, which adds 50 state caselaw, Law360 and CourtLink, is 324 dollars, 123.85 below Advantage all states and federal. Those Lexis tiers do not include Protege, though, while Advantage includes Deep Research, so compare on the AI you actually need.
If the AI layer is not the point, the cheapest Westlaw is cheaper than the cheapest Lexis+. Westlaw Edge for one state costs 107.25 dollars on three years against 114 for Lexis+ Essential.
Westlaw Advantage
From $288.60 a month, visible online.
Lexis+ with Protege
$495 a month on 3 years for 1 to 3 attorneys on the new store version, Pricing on request on the older page.
CoCounsel Legal
Priced after a four-step configurator, firms of 1 to 10 attorneys.
Lexis+ Enhanced
$257 per attorney per month on 3 years, no Protege.
Is Westlaw Advantage worth it for a small firm?
It is worth it when the agentic tools replace associate hours you would otherwise pay for. A three lawyer litigation shop that drafts research memos every week, answers dispositive motions and uploads opposing briefs will use Deep Research and the Litigation Document Analyzer enough to justify the premium over Edge.
It is hard to justify when most of your research is a narrow question with a known jurisdiction. There, Westlaw Edge with AI-Assisted Research at 170.95 dollars a month, or plain Edge at 107.25 for one state, gives you KeyCite and the Westlaw library for far less, and a three year Advantage contract at 10,389.60 dollars is a large commitment for tools you will open a few times a month.
For the everyday question of which decisions control and whether they still stand, CaseSearch is built to answer it directly. You ask in plain English and get the on-point decisions with citations, the holding in plain language and a good-law signal, for 49 dollars a month month to month or 24 a month billed yearly, with no multi-year term. It does not replace the Westlaw library or KeyCite, and a firm that lives in Westlaw all day should buy Westlaw. For everyone else it is the research you actually run, at a price you can cancel.
Buy Advantage
Weekly research memos, frequent brief uploads, multi-issue litigation.
Buy Edge with AI-Assisted Research
You want generative answers and KeyCite, not agentic tools.
Buy plain Edge
One state, KeyCite, no AI, from $107.25.
CaseSearch

Frequently asked
Questions buyers ask about Westlaw Advantage pricing
How much is Westlaw Advantage per month?
For one attorney, 288.60 dollars a month with single circuit coverage on a three year term, or 355.20 on one year. Those are the Thomson Reuters configurator prices for new customers at firms of up to 10 attorneys, read on September 18, 2026.
Why does the Westlaw Advantage FAQ say $256.75?
The FAQ has not been updated. 256.75 and 399.75 were the three year prices the configurator returned until early September 2026. The same configurations now return 288.60 and 447.85, about 12 percent more, so budget from the configurator and not the FAQ.
Is Deep Research included in Westlaw Edge?
No. Deep Research is a Westlaw Advantage exclusive feature, along with the Litigation Document Analyzer, the Complaint Analyzer and Claims Explorer. Westlaw Edge with AI-Assisted Research includes AI-Assisted Research and AI Jurisdictional Surveys, and plain Westlaw Edge includes no generative AI.
What is the cheapest way to get Westlaw Advantage?
Single circuit coverage on a three year term, at 288.60 dollars a month for one attorney. Every circuit option costs the same, so choose the circuit where you file. Adding a second attorney brings the total to 425.75 dollars a month, which lowers the cost per lawyer.
Do existing Westlaw customers get the online Advantage price?
No. Thomson Reuters states that online pricing is available to new customers only, and existing customers should call 888-728-7677 or use the Contact Us form. The online figures are still the best benchmark to bring into a renewal or upgrade conversation.
What replaced Westlaw Precision?
Westlaw Advantage, launched on August 13, 2025 as the successor to Westlaw Precision. Thomson Reuters still sells the older Westlaw Edge online alongside it, in plain and AI-Assisted Research versions.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Westlaw Advantage for case law research?
Within Westlaw, Edge with AI-Assisted Research starts at 170.95 dollars a month and plain Edge at 107.25.
